Beachfront Villas at Tangalooma Resort (Villa 29)

Villa 29 is located on the beach front at Tangalooma Island Resort.  Accommodating 6-8 guests this villa is ideal for the Moreton getaway. Handy to resort facilities, just a short stroll to the cafes and restaurants.  There are 2 bedrooms upstairs and a bunk area, downstairs couch also converts to 2 single trundles.  The deck has clear views of Moreton Bay and redcliffe area, and fantastic sunsets.

This property is located on the worlds second largest sand island. During your stay, there are plenty to see and do. Fishing on the beach, you may catch a dart, whiting, or take your boat out to the reefs and you may catch a cod.  During whale season the Eastern beach is the place to be, watching the mother whales and babies playing, leaping through the water.

If you love snorkeling or a first timer, head down to the Tangalooma Wrecks, and snorkel around the wrecks, the most amazing scenery, don’t forget to take some bread with you to feed the fish while you are out there.  Snorkeling the Tangalooma Wrecks is a great experience and remember to take your underwater camera to snap a picture of the turtle swimming under you, or the dugong hiding in the wreck below.

If you love sand and speed, head to the desert for sand boarding. The desert is located behind Tangalooma Resort and in Summer does get quite hot so don’t forget your sand board, hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.
Tangalooma Resort does have restaurants and cafes, a bar area for Tangalooma Resort guests.  Tangalooma Resort guests do have access to quad tours, bird feeding, desert tours, light house and island scenic tours,  helicopter flights, boat tours, hire segways, kayaking and snorkeling/diving tours. Dolphin feeding is not included with this property as this is a private rental.

Cowan Cowan does have the old war gunning placements which are full of history and are located right on the beach in front of Cowan Cowan.  The best way to see the gunning placements, park your 4wd at the beach enclosure at Cowan Cowan and walk the beach to see the old concrete bunkers and gun turrets.

Cape Moreton light house is a must see, the lighthouse is at the Northern tip of Moreton Island.  There is a bit of waking and stairs to reach the light house and the old light house keepers houses, which do now accommodate National Parks Rangers.  The light house is not open to the public, you can see the light house and the views across the island towards caloundra and the Glass house mountains are superb, Look back along the Eastern Beach for spectacular beach views, the views are priceless.
The list is endless of activites and sight-seeing on Moreton Island, so come on over to Moreton island, book your accommodation at Tangalooma, Cowan Cowan or Bulwer and experience our island pleasures and beauty.

Sleeps 6-8 guests, 2.5 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 toilets, from $165 – 350 per night.

4WD VEHICLES ONLY:

As Moreton Island is a sand Island (3rd largest in the world) the only vehicles that operate on the Island are 4WD.

Providing your vehicle is a 4WD, you can drive it on the island as all of the tracks on the island are built for 4WD vehicles only.

It is not recommended to bring an All-Wheel Drive vehicle across as they are too low for proper clearance of the tracks.

NO 4WD?:

If you will not be bringing a 4WD vehicle to the Island you will need to catch the Tangalooma Resort Passenger Launch which departs from Holt Street Wharf, Pinkenba and travels to the Tangalooma Resort Jetty at least twice daily.  Launch transfers currently cost $80 per adult and $45 per child return for Tangalooma guests).  A gated car park is available at Holt St. Wharf with parking charged at $15 per day or $60 per week.  Bookings are essential. The number to call for reservations is (07) 3637 2000 or 1300 652 250 within Australia).
